Hello World!
Wow, where do I even begin? So, here I am, an indie author, diving into the deep end of social media. Cue dramatic music. I’ve officially ventured into the world of Instagram! Not going to lie, it’s been a bit like stepping into the unknown. I’ve got exactly zero followers right now—yep, zero—but I’m determined to change that. This is my very first blog post, and it’s a bit of a milestone for me.
Being a debut indie author is exhilarating, but also… terrifying. I’ve spent the past few weeks feeling like a fish out of water, especially when I tried to get my head around Canva. Don’t get me wrong, Canva is a brilliant tool (seriously, how did I not know about it sooner?!), but trying to figure out how to make eye-catching posts and reels for Instagram felt like trying to build a spaceship with Lego blocks. But, with a little perseverance and a lot of trial and error, I’ve created a few designs that I’m actually proud of. It’s a start, right?
The goal is to get the word out about my book You & Only You—Book One in my Soulbound Series. It’s a little dark, a little steamy, and filled with characters who are about to steal your heart (I mean, they better—I’ve spent months crafting them!). So, I’ve been posting character teasers, snippets, and a few fun reels to give everyone a taste of what’s to come.
In the past few days, I’ve managed to get a couple of likes (yay, small victories!) and even interacted with a few fellow authors who are also trying to make their mark in this big, wide world. The support from the indie author community has been overwhelming—everyone is so encouraging, and it’s honestly been a huge boost.
I’ll admit, I still feel a little overwhelmed by all the social media magic. But one thing I’ve learned in the last 29 days? The key to this whole thing is staying authentic, having fun, and just being myself. So, here’s to many more days of figuring out Instagram, creating new content, and hopefully making a few book-loving friends along the way.
If you’re reading this, thank you. Seriously. I’m just starting out, but if you’re on this journey with me, I’ll be forever grateful.
And if you happen to be one of the brave souls who followed me before I got my act together—bless you!
Here’s to making the most of this wild ride!
Until next time,
Effie
